Small batches. Handcrafted details. Artisanal quality.
Today, phrases such as these may seem like clichés. But here at Olena Zylak, we live every one of those words, and have been doing so since our knitwear line began in 1997.
More than just a name, Olena Zylak is a person: the award-winning Canadian designer that specializes in adorning women with distinctive winter hats, infinity scarves, wraps and more. And even though we are in our 19th year, Olena not only continues to design our entire line, she plays an integral, hands-on role in the creation of each and every piece that we send to customers like you.
You won’t find a computer at our designing table. Instead, our styles come to life through Olena’s pencil sketches, and patterns which she carefully maps out by hand.
Then, knitting is done at our studio in historic Collingwood, Ontario, with occasional help from another local artisan during busy periods.
Olena personally finishes the knitted “fabric” on sewing and serging machines, and hand sews wherever necessary. Special attention is given to our hats, where the distinctive silhouette of each piece is formed through hand crafting.
All of this work is done in small batches, to create knits of exceptional style and enduring quality.
